Stratford (population 32,000) is a small city located in Southwestern Ontario and is the county seat of Perth County. The city was named after Stratford-upon-Avon, England and it lies on a river known as the Avon. It was founded in 1832 when European settlers lived on ths townsite and it became a city in 1886. In its early history, the city was a railway junction due to its location at the junction of the Canadian National Railway and Goderich-Exeter Railway.
